Silent Sanctuary never fails to capture first their audiences attention then their hearts. Their repertoire offers a variety of songs destined to make one ride a rollercoaster of emotions from the exhilaration of loving to the melancholy of heartbreak, from the delight of a summer day to the misery of a dark gloomy night.
The music of this five-piece band brings to surprising fruition the eclectic combination of their varied influences. Guitarist and vocalist Sarkie Sarangays Bob Marley influence is showcased in the head-bopping Summer Song, while shades of Dave Matthews can be discerned from drummer Allen Calixtos and bassist Paolo Legaspis grooves. Aside from being classically trained in their respective instruments, cellist Anjo Inacay and violinist Chino Davids sound are heavily laden by the edginess of OPM idols The Eraserheads, the creativity of Apocalyptica and Yo Yo Ma, and the ingenuity of Stephane Grapelli.
Offering their deepest thoughts and emotions with the simplest words, Silent Sanctuary can make you cry with the sadness of Rebound. But they can also make you dance to the catchy beat of Pink5. You can never really tell what theyre going dish out next. It may be a hiphop song, an R&B song, or the Summer Song. What you can be sure though, is that they are having fun onstage. And they will make you have fun too.
Do yourself a favor. Give them a listen. They just might be playing your song.
One of my favorite songs
